Learning to be Dependent
Human choices and desires for independence have destroyed God's intentions, beginning in the garden. Satan suggests that it's not fair for God to keep all the "godness" to himself. God on the other hand knew that this is exactly what must happen for life to be full and real.

Our Accuser
Our Accuser is a liar and a deceiver. He is a destroyer and a distracter. He will do everything he can to take our eyes off of Jesus. He is our tempter, many times we give him more footholds in our lives by the sin that we won't let go of. Our accuser has already been defeated. He has been defeated by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is only when we trust in Jesus our lord and savior that we will be able to stand up under the accusations and temptations of the enemy.

What Do I Have to be Thankful For?
We all know we need to be thankful. And we know we have reasons to be thankful. But we often get into unthankful attitudes, because we forget why we would be so thankful. We need reminders about the grace of God. In Colossians 1 Paul gives us three reminders about why we should be thankful.

Broken - Pt. 6 - The Blessing in the Thorn
It's one thing when God seems silent, or even indifferent to our suffering and hardships. It's quite another to discover that he was actually orchestrating those circumstances for his own purposes, even declining to remove them when we ask. It is then that we can learn to see the blessing in the thorn.

Facing Temptation with God on Your Side (Luke 4, Psalm 119)
Life is filled with all sorts of landscape. An all terrain faith is equally balanced for the breathtaking view from the mountaintop and the confusing trek though a cold, dark valley. It provides adequate support for walking in rough, rocky stretches and stability for the slippery spots. In this exploration of the Psalms, we will see that no matter where you find yourself in life there is an appropriate faith response to your life situation. Are you ready for the hike?

The Invisible War
The story of Job is a testament to Christians that even though we must endure numerous attacks from Satan, we can have confidence that our sovereign God is still in control. We must remember however, that even though Satan was defeated by Jesus Christ, his power is for now still in effect and his threat still great. But just as Job did not sin nor charge God with wrong in the face of suffering, Christians are to submit to trials and worship God our creator because Satan's power has been limited by the triumph of our Savior Jesus Christ. By God's grace we can recognize the advances of Satan's attacks and be ready for the battles. In Job 2 we learn that Satan is persistent but has faulty perception of the power of authentic God-given faith. Although Satan's persecution is overwhelming, his acts are only carried out by permission from God. Thus we know that God is fully in control and sovereign over all things - including pain and trials. As such, believers cannot lose their God-given faith!
