Essentials Part 2
The gospel and truth is under continual attack by Satan who sends out false teachers, false shepherds, false apostles and false prophets to wage war against the church, God’s people. There is a battle for truth and much is at stake – God’s glory and the eternal destiny for all. Join us as we are encouraged by Paul (1 Timothy 6.3-21) to fight the good fight of faith. We will also speak to the essentials of the church. These are the things that we will have a close hand on as we have an open hand to the culture around us.

God Is Able!
The person who limits God simply does not know God! The one who reads the Word of God and scoffs at what is recorded there does not know the power of God Almighty! The Scriptures tell us that "With God all things are possible" that He has "All power in heaven and earth". And God is able!

2 Samuel 9 - Covenant Kindness
It is easy to be two-faced in our socieity today. It is easy to forget (on purpose) promices that are made because our circumstances change and it is to our advantage to forget promices when we think there are no bad consequences. This is the position David was in, but David made sure that he fulfilled his coveant with Jonathan by showing kindness to Mephibosheth. Normally kings and leaders would eleminate any leaders or family of a former rival kingdom, and thus Mephibosheth had something to fear in coming into King David's presence. But David in the all important verse 7 shows a coveant kingdness that not only protects Mephibosheth's live but provides for him in land and food and gives a great position (eating at the kings table). today We understand from David's covenant with Jonathan that God's covenant with us provides benefits in we can have security in living, abundance in living, and dependence in living. We are totally dependent on the covenant Kindness of God in providing our security in salvation from sin. Since we are sinners we are actually an enemy of God and lame in our spiritual ability to save ourselves. God saves those like Mephibosheth that do not rely on their own reasources but trust in God's covenant with us.

The Porch Light's On
"Home…" At it's very best, "home" is a place we all long for…a place that is safe…a place we are unconditionally loved…a place we can let our hair down and know that we will not offend….a state of being…secure…safe…at ease…."home". So many in our day have not experienced this kind of "home" in growing up, nor have they understood the offer of "home" that our heavenly Father extends to us. Instead of seeing a loving Father waiting at the door, they have feared an angry God. But the New Testament paints a much different picture of God – and maybe its an image you need to embrace. The image of the porch light being left on at night…the picture of a daddy worried sick as He waits for His runaway child to come home. The truth is, we are ALL runaways in our own way. Some of us have begun the journey home, others still need to turn around…but ultimately we walk the same path. Maybe it's time you headed for home. The porch light is on…the door is unlocked…the family is waiting! Key Passage: Luke 15:11-31

Are You Ready To Be Free?
This past week, Kenneth Lay, the founder of the Enron Corporation and the leader of one of the biggest business fraud scandals in history, died of a coronary artery disease at the age of 64. He was convicted in May of 10 counts of conspiracy and fraud and was set for sentencing on October 23 of this year for his suspected role in this scandal. He was due to face from 25 to 40 years in prison. It is all the more surprising when we see his humble upbringing that all this could have taken place. Some may believe it was not fair that Ken Lay died before he could begin his sentence. But I submit to you that Ken Lay was in jail already.

There is no "Plan B" - Romans 8:28-30
“Predestination.” The word by itself is enough to evoke strongly negative and positive reactions from an equal number of people. But what is predestination? What does the Bible have to say about it, and what does it mean for the Christian and the Church? Can the idea of predestination actually be of comfort? This week, we take a look at Romans 8:28-30, where Paul delivers the comforting news to the Roman church that they are among God’s chosen people, forever secure in Christ.
