Sermons About Selfishness
Sacred Joy: Philippians 2.1-4
Last week in Philippians, Paul began his plea for unity in his letter to the church at Philippi. He called for them with one spirit and one mind to strive together for the faith of the gospel. He continues this week with this central plea, longing for them to be of the same mind. This week we will see Paul explain this unity. We will see the why, what and how of unity. Unity is a work of God and the church needs this great work.

Fathers, Provoke Not Your Children to Wrath
One of the problems that repeatedly affected the proliferation of revival has occurred within the Christian home. The failure was not in the revival itself, but rather a failure within the families to pass on its life giving principles to the next generation. The Apostle Paul addresses a portion of this problem in sixth chapter of Ephesians when he admonishes fathers not to provoke their children to wrath. This message deals with several ways this can happen in the average Christian home.

Positively Negative
Fear, stress and selfishness are causes of negativity. When we are negative, we are questioning God's wisdom and His care. We forget about God's goodness. We should do everything without complaining.

The Horror of a Life Against God - ENGAGE #6
In this series, we will study Daniel 1-6. There are many parallels between the situation Daniel faced and our situation today. Like Daniel, we work and live among a great variety of gods--not only those of other formal religions, but also the gods of achievement, independence, knowledge, pleasure, and ideology. In a religiously diverse culture which is at best indifferent and at worst hostile to faith in the one true God, what role should Christ-followers play in society? Rather than isolating ourselves or rejecting our world, we want to ENGAGE our world as people who trust in a powerful God, make positive contributions to society, and bring hope to others. If you've ever wondered how Monday-Saturday were related to Sunday, this series is for you.

I'll Be Happy When... the Focus is on ME
What happens in our relationships when we approach people with a "me-focus"? Our me-focus blocks us from serving in selfless love. Take a look at two men who knew a measure of freedom from me-focus - Timothy and Ephraphoditus. Listen to their lives and ask - how were they set free from a me-first life?

The first step on this journey is to understand the poverty of our hearts, to search our hearts and ask why it's sometimes so difficult to help those in need. Is it selfishness and busyness? Are our minds closed to the truth of poverty? Do we avoid the hurt that comes with trying to reach out but feeling like we don't make a difference. Intent on One Purpose
Philippians 2:1-8 The greatest danger to any group is disunity. Whether it's a family, an athletic team, a workplace or a church, selfishness is that destructive part of human nature that separates and divides a group. Although Paul was writing to a healthy church in Philippi, he warned them of this danger and encouraged them to be united - of one heart and mind - in their fellowship together.
