Sermons About Separation
Community is...
God commits to make a people for Himself. This is His plan, to redeem a “people,” not just individuals. We’re not saved to be isolated individuals. This church, His people, our community, is what Christ died for and it is what we are saved into. The story of the Bible is the story of God fulfilling His promise to be our God as His people. So how do we do community? We do this by calling you into a messy community life where you “devote” yourself to learning the Gospel in fellowship with one another. This is not clean and tidy, but messy and disorganized at times. It isn’t a program to be attended, a curriculum to be mastered, but instead a life to be lived as the Gospel comes and regularly breathes new life into our wandering hearts.

It's Worth Defending
The good news that Jesus died for sin and offers eternal life to all who will believe is the greatest topic of conversation in all the world. It is simple enough for the simplest mind to understand, but it is complex enough that the most intelligent person will never fully understand it. The salvation that we have in Christ is a conversation worth having with anyone anywhere anytime. Unfortunately, there are many who do not share our salvation yet want to corrupt the good news about Jesus. They claim the name of Jesus. They do religious things. But they are enemies of the faith. Today, in our teaching from the book of Jude, we see the beginning of Jude’s description of the enemies of the Christian faith. Jude calls on us as Christians to defend Christianity against its enemies, even when those enemies pretend to be one of us. Because the Christian faith is God’s truth, we must be ready and willing to defend it against attack.

Or do you want your children and grandchildren and later generations to know without a shadow of a doubt that you were a Christian and you were a man or woman whom the world was not worthy of? After all, you are going to be remembered for something.

Part 2: A People Who Know God
God created humanity to live in community--community with one another and with God. This perfect community was shattered during the Fall and the result is the world we now live in--a world characterized by conflict. God's redemptive plan for the world is unveiled in the good news to Abraham; Abraham is promised a people who know God. God will restore his people to one another and to himself.
