Part II: Your Serve
If we can get Serving right then, as a new spiritual community…as a new church…as Matt’s House I am convinced that we will see exponential growth, unlimited resources, and personal transformation. But to get Serving right you will have to change your personal priorities to match God’s.

First Things First
In the book of Philippians, the apostle Paul said that he had put following Christ first. Paul didn’t say, “These 100 things I dabble in.” No, he said, “This one thing I do.” We can make following Christ our first thing. The text gives three priorities (or big rocks) that we can put into our lives in order to make following Christ our “one thing.”

Re-Energized
1 Corinthians 15:58 tells us to give ourselves fully to the work of the Lord. When we make God the driving force of our lives, serving in our church home will re-energize us. We need to: stand unswervingly for God, and imbed ourselves in what God is doing knowing that everything we do for God is important; everyone can contribute; and nothing we do for God is a waste of time or energy. People serve at Metro because they know that the cumulative value of investing in what God is up to has an eternal payoff!

When Others Care About My Problems
Biblical joy is happiness, an emotion that is experienced by all people—Christian an non. What makes Christian joy different, though, isn’t that it’s not a feeling. Christian joy is the positive, emotional response to the reality that has dawned with the resurrection of Jesus. Jesus’ life and death proves that God loves the world and that he has acted to bring in a new reality that perseveres in the midst of any circumstance. THAT can produce happiness in anyone, no matter what.
