Selfish...or Self-less?
What does it mean to truly serve your family? Your work colleagues? Your church? Do you serve with an attitude of serving "unto God," or is it all about elevating yourself? Discover with us how we're to follow the example of Jesus, who didn't come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

Give
As a church we desire to be REAL people making a REAL difference in a REAL world through the power of Christ, but most of the time we don’t think that we have what it takes to make a real difference. There is an order to the process. It all begins with the power of Christ being unleashed in our lives. The power of Christ is unleashed as we become G4 followers of Christ who: GATHER corporately for celebration and teaching, GROW spiritually through community, GIVE sacrificially in service to the church, and GO unashamedly with the gospel into the world. Desiring that we would see the power of Christ unleashed at Harvest Pointe, our 2008-2009 Church Goal is that…Each One of Us Would Take Our Next Steps in Becoming G4 Followers of Christ. Throughout this series we will explore the four elements of being a G4 follower of Christ and how we can take our next steps in each one of them.

Heres the Deal
Where’s the deal in today’s marketplace? It is not what a person does that determines whether his work is secular, but why he does it. –A.W. Tozer 1. Christ followers believe they are called to their work. Calling is God’s personal invitation for me to work on His agenda, using the talents I have been given in ways that are eternally significant. 2. Christ followers model a servant’s heart in their work. Serving is the art and act of focusing on someone else’s interest instead of our own. 3. Christ followers display integrity (character) in their work. Character is the sum of my behaviors, public and private that define my entire life. 4. Christ followers should deliver skill in their work. Skill is understanding something completely and transforming that knowledge into creations of wonder and excellence. Definitions from “Marketplace Success for People of Faith†with adaptation for today’s message.

The Next Step - Blessing Others
When serving others, we need to pay attention to the ambition. Are we serving to gain accolades or to show the love of Christ? The Bible instructs us to live with an "others first" mentality. Regardless of who gets the credit and who doesn't, be a faithful servant. Taking the next step requires us to do something. Serving is a vital part of the Christian life.

Expecting God To Call Us To Do Great (Hard) Things
Jesus does not discourage us from seeking greatness, but he does radically shift our understanding of what being great is from promoting ourselves to serving others for Christ’s glory.
