Declaration of (in) Dependence Part 1
Part one of a study in the book of Romans. Introduction. It is time to figure it what God intends for you to discover from the book of Romans. This week as we enter into our study, we are going to see faith inextricably linked to either proclamation of or shame for the work of Jesus Christ. With that in mind, we are going to ask this Big Picture Question. How are living by faith and not being ashamed forever linked and what is the application of both in our lives?

Resurrection Sunday
Your suffering is not in vain. Your heartbreak is not in vain. Your loss is not in vain. Your struggle is not in vain. Your past is not in vain. This day is not in vain. Your future is not in vain. God’s grace towards you is not in vain! Jesus swallowed our failure, shame, guilt, death, sin, and hell. Jesus became a man and lived our life and died our death to pay our penalty so that God could give us grace and welcome us in to His loving arms and say, “This is my boy, this is my girl, whom I love!” Happy Resurrection Sunday Kaleo. Let’s worship our King!

Overcoming Shame
Beyond embarrassment… there’s a place that is very seldom brought up or discussed. In fact, it’s an area that seems to be “off limits” for a whole lot of dialogue or discussion. This area is shame. There are basically 3 types of shame… healthy… absent… and toxic. Healthy and absent shame will only be touched on briefly because toxic shame has the most damaging effects on our lives. We can, however, put a stop to the damage and reverse the effects but we need to be proactive in turning things around.

Who Will You Serve? (Romans 6:20-23)
Paul continues his argument that there are only two types of people -- those for whom sin is master and those for whom God is master. You will be a slave to one or the other. On the one hand, slavery to sin may yield temporary pleasure, but its fruit is full of shame and ultimately produces only death. On the other hand, slavery to God produces the fruit of the Spirit, sanctification, and ultimately eternal life. This is ours, as a free gift from God, and we who have received life are fools to return to the old master, sin, who can give us only shame and death.

Who's Counting?
Today we rarely seem to talk about sin. It's the new four letter word both in and outside the church. Yet the Bible is clear that sin is or was our biggest problem as human beings created in God's image. God cannot tolerate it. Yet His love is so immense for us, that he stepped into the middle of time as a human being Himself, and paid the price for our rebellion. Now, He no longer counts our sins against us. Do we understand how huge that is and what that means for us?

The Race of Faith
Life is like a race, a marathon. We are easily overcome with hardship if we don't have our attention on the right person- Jesus. We are able to finish the race because He finished the race and sits on the throne of grace to help us.
