As David thought about his relationship with God, he described it as a sheep's relationship with the shepherd. As believers in Jesus, God is our Great Shepherd as described in Psalm 23.
Though the feeding of the 5,000 is a familiar passage, this message focuses on the desire of the Lord to use human beings to accomplish His purposes. Connections are made to the Last Supper and Marriage Supper of the Lamb. Jesus is the Good Shepherd who interrupts His schedule to feed His sheep.
Our God is a shepherd who guides us, protects us and provides for us. When God is our shepherd, we lack nothing and we fear nothing.

Turbulence will always be a part of our lives. We can't avoid it but the God of scripture, the God who knows us goes through it with us. One of the stories of the first 39 chapter of Isaiah is the the question of "what and whom will we trust?" The first king failed to trust God and the second king waivers back and forth from trusting God to trusting other powers. In the end he understands God's power and ability and care. In the middle of our turbulence we need to remember God's abilities and care and place our trust in Him.
