A Final Gospel Appeal, Part 2
In 6:11-18, Paul concludes with one final gospel appeal. In his appeal, he reiterates five main themes that he wishes to impress on the minds of the Galatians so that the gospel remains central and sufficient in their lives and churches. First, Paul reiterates his authority and authenticity as an apostle (6:11, 17). Second, Paul reiterates the sufficiency of the cross for salvation (6:12-14). In v. 14, Paul declares in the strongest possible terms that he will only boast in the cross of Christ. Such boasting in the cross would have been extraordinarily strange to both a Gentile and a Jew. Why then would Paul boast in such a repugnant, horror-filled, foolish symbol? In Galatians, we find at least eight reasons why Paul boasted only in the cross of Christ.

Life Isn't Fair - 2

Week 2: "Stay With The Ship"
When unexpected tragedy occurs and we find ourselves asking the question: "Why do bad things happen to good people?" or "If good is good, why is there evil in the the world?" we need to stay with what God reveals is His will for our lives. That doesn't mean that we will not experience trouble or heartache, but it ultimately will lead us to His eternal purposes.
Acts 27:1-44 - In the Storm
Paul was taken on a voyage from Caesarea to Rome in order to stand trial before the Emperor. The ship took too long to get to Rome and ended up getting caught in a vicious winter storm in the Mediterranean. The passengers began to despair because these storms almost always destroyed the ship and killed everyone aboard, but God told Paul that everyone on board would survive and that he would stand trial before the Emperor. Paul trusted in this promise from God and encouraged the other passengers. The ship ended up breaking apart on a shoal but everyone aboard made it to shore safely. In our live we are all going to have to weather periods of adversity, suffering, and trial, but in those times we should not wilt and give up hope but instead to stand firm and cling to the promises of God that He is there with us in the midst of our trials and He has promised to work all of our difficult circumstances out for the good of those who love Him.
