Sermons About Significance
Named
What's in a name? Significance? Love? Recapturing a memory? Maybe it's your grandpa's heritage or your mom's favorite aunt. Could be a biblical hero or a forgotten saint? Perhaps it's from a land far away or a character that's close to home. It could even be Hope, Faith, or Grace. Last year, in BC, there were 283 baby boys given the name Ethan. Interestingly enough, of the roughly 22,000 boys born last year not even one was named "Friend of Sinners." Key Passage: John 7:37-38

The Performance Trap - Parent Trap #3
Parents are the most influential people in a child’s life. Good parents always want what is best for their children. They want good things for their kids: to be happy, productive and moral. But good things out of place can become dangerous. Well meaning parents regularly step into traps that poison a child’s faith in the name of something good. Don’t fall into the "Parent Trap." By looking at major Bible themes, Lead Pastor Jeff Lawrence helps parents avoid the traps that damage a child’s faith. Why Not?

Freedom-Faith Goes to Work - Galatians #11
What makes the Christian faith like no other? The good news of God’s grace is the bold claim that we are accepted by God not because we “follow the rules” or “fit the mold” but because Jesus gave his own life to rescue us. But many of us are still trying to earn God’s love with our performance rather than living in the freedom that Jesus has provided for us. In Galatians, Paul warns against the danger of religious systems that value people on grounds of accomplishment or status or cultural agreement. These things lock away our freedom in the futility of legalism, moral superiority and cultural arrogance. Focusing on either the racial/ethnic/cultural superiority or the moral successes of good works denies the gospel and divides Jesus’ followers. Join us as we explore how God offers us true freedom in Jesus and how the freedom of Christ transforms our hearts, our minds and lives.
