The Tongue: Small but Influential
Our tongue, though small in size, has great power to influence for both good and evil. However, no one can tame the tongue. So what is our solution? Realizing that the only way a believer can control his/her tongue is by seeking to have their hearts transformed by God--knowing that whatever proceeds from the mouth is initiated from the heart.

Drop
In nearly every aspect of our lives we seem to believe “Bigger is Better.” But is bigger always better? Not when it comes to spiritual things. Jesus taught this in Luke 13:18–21 with two illustrations of how God works in his kingdom. This message uses the refrain “God uses small things to do big stuff” and illustrates it from various sources to get the main idea across. It concludes with the challenge of all of us joining together for the impact of small actions multiplied by many.

Missing the Glory of God in Our Midst
In Nehemiah, the nobles of Jerusalem chose to cling to the comfort and safety of their political alliances and missed the glory of God which stood so clearly in their midst. They feared the glory of God because they knew that to see it would cause them to fall greatly in their own esteem. However, by missing out on the glory of God, the nobles foolishly traded their own eternal joy for what seemed to be an economically wise relationship at the time. Today, we too have the opportunity to see the glory of God and experience the amazing joy that comes as we fall in our own esteem and yet realize that the God of the universe is for us. He is our advocate, our savior, our refuge, our creator, and our friend; and beholding his glory can fill our lives with joy, truth, meaning, and purpose. We must be vigilant not to make the same mistake as the nobles of Jerusalem and trade his glory for lesser things.

Body Builder’s
The Apostle Paul makes it very clear in Ephesians 4:11 - 16 that God’s mandate for all believers is to build up the Body of Christ and to equip the saints for the work of ministry. As we will discover in this morning’s message, however, God’s method for accomplishing this is through community - a community that is evidenced in the Trinity and was perpetuated by man being created in God’s image. The force of evil around us is determined to either destroy this community or to offer unsatisfying counterfeits. We see the manifestations of this in the rate of divorce and the breakup of families. We see it on an even larger scale in civil strife and war around the world because Satan hates unity! Today’s message will take us back to God’s original blueprint for personal and corporate growth among His people. You will also be challenged to become part of a small group where, in a large church, you can know and be known by others; where you can be authentic and have some of your deepest needs met through love and prayer; and where you can be accountable together according to God’s standard.
