The Character of God
Luke 15:11-32 "The Parable of the Lost Son" paints for us a picture of the character of God!
Resurrection-Part 6
Last week we left off in the text where Paul was saying that there is a natural body and a spiritual body (I Corinthians 15:44). As believers we will have a natural body and then a spiritual body. We will see this week that the natural comes first and them the spiritual (just as there was Adam’s physical body first and then Jesus’ spiritual body – I Corinthians 15:46), and we will see who the father’s of these bodies are, and what we can discern about these bodies from the original’s (Adam and Jesus). I. The father of our natural body is Adam A. He became a living being (I Corinthians 15:45) B. We are the sons of Adam first C. He is from the earth (I Corinthians 15:47) 1. A man of dust 2. We are made of dust D. We are made in his image II. The Father of our spiritual body is Jesus A. Jesus became a life-giving spirit (I Corinthians 15:45) B. We are His son’s second (I Corinthians 15:46) C. The second man is of heaven D. He is not made of the stuff of earth, but of heaven (I Corinthians 15:47) 1. A man of heaven 2. We will be made like Him III. We do and will bear their image A. The image of the man of dust – as was the man of dust so are we (vv. 48, 49) 1. This comes first 2. Of earth – dusty 3. Finite and breaking down – aging, dying (Romans 5:12) 4. Covered in sinful flesh – born with a sin nature B. The image of the man of heaven – as is the man of heaven so we shall be (vv. 48, 49) (I John 3:2, Philippians 3:21, 1. Jesus appeared in the middle of a room (Luke 24:36, 37; John 20:19, 26) 2. Jesus was flesh and bone (Luke 24:39; John 10:27, 28) 3. He was recognizable and able to speak 4. Jesus showed His scars (Luke 24:40) 5. Jesus ate food with His disciples (Luke 24:41-43) 6. Jesus prepared a meal for His disciples (John 21:9-13) 7. Equipped for a new universe…heavens and earth (Rev. 21:1-3; 15-17; 22-27) We will be able to communicate more clearly and illustrate things more clearly. We will be able to express ourselves in ways that we never could. We will be able to move freely from place to place, but above all these cool things that we will be able to do, we will live in a body made of heavenly materials that does not want to sin. We will have a body that is not in conflict with our new nature.

Life Together
The Father longs to be with you. His grace – his generosity – knows no limits. He sent his son to bear all your insults and humiliation and he still wants you with him. But you have to choose to become the son or daughter he meant you to be.
