Speak! Pt. 1 - The Wealth of a Word
Have you ever had to "eat your words"? How did your stomach feel? Think about eating every word you say -- which, in a sense, we do! We don’t think enough about the power of our words, and the worth of our words! Death and Life are in the power of the tongue!
Speak! Part 2 - The High Cost of Free Speech
Can we speak freely? As Americans we're grateful to have the right to free speech, but as citizens of God's Kingdom, do we have freedom to speak without consequences? Consider the high cost of free speech if as Proverbs says, "death and life are in the power of the tongue!"
My Friend Josh, Part 5: Courage to Speak
In our final week with “My Friend Josh,” we’ll hear his final words to the people he has been leading.
Speak! Part 3 - The Amazing Power of the Tongue
The sad reality is that while our tongues are contained in a cage of teeth and lips, they still escape. It is not intelligence that keeps the lock on that cage; it is wisdom & it’s the power of God that can control it. We need to pray what David prayed in Psalm 141:3 "Set a guard over my mouth, O LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips." Why? Because the tongue has amazing power.
Speak! Pt. 5 - Praying with Power
How do you align your words with God and pray with power? It begins with understanding that prayer is not trying to get God to move. Prayer is cooperating with God and releasing the power of his Holy Spirit that he has placed within you so that he can work in your life!
Speak! Part 4 - Detoxing The Tongue
By default, our tongues can be filled with toxic venom. God's words, in stark contrast, are like warm, soothing, healing oil poured over a person’s wounds. The awesome news is, the God who made your tongue can detox your tongue, filling your mouth with words that bring life, healing and grace to those who hear!
Mission of the King
What can we learn about our mission through this great work of Nehemiah? How can we put some meat on the bones of missional calling? How should God’s people now respond if they’ve been broken over the needs of our city? God loves to use the simple, common, humble people who He chooses to raise up and use in incredible ways. God is calling us to no less that what we see in Nehemiah’s life and example.
Speak to the mountain
Summary: Our words are what we use to attack the enemy. When we say what God says to our enemies, it’s like shooting bullets at them. When we talk the problem, it’s like throwing cookies at them. Our words are the bullet, our mouth is the gun, but love is the firing pin. We have got to get God’s word in our mouth and fire at the enemy that’s standing in our way. We have to speak to the mountain. Don’t ask God to do anything about it, stop crying about it. Stop talking about how big it is, stop telling everyone you meet that will listen to you how big it is, and speak to it. Command it to go!
