The impact of a rebuke has a lot to do with whether the listener thinks that the speaker is talking to them. This parable of the wicked tenants can read right over if you think that is applies only to the religious leaders that Jesus was talking about. However, we would be foolish to think that the characteristics of these rulers and elders are not still within and among us. We all need to examine our lives to see if we are living like good tenants or whether we are living like wicked tenants who are trying to steal from God.
Stealing is wrong, but God has provided for our forgiveness.
God has given his children a completely new nature, new family and new future. When we live according to the old nature and ways, we are exchanging the greatest life possible for the worst life imaginable. In this passage, Paul reminds us of who we really are in Christ and why we must put aside the old life and clothe ourselves with the new nature, character, thoughts and actions of Christ. This messages looks at how to do that and the specific areas God calls us to do that in.
