Luke 12:49-59 Why does Jesus stress this topic of faithful stewardship? Why must we make fueling the mission of Christ a life-long priority? The simple, haunting truth is that many around us everyday, while aware of their brokenness, are unaware both of the cure for it, and of the coming judgment before the court of heaven. But there is good news! Through His church, Jesus Christ is spreading the message of rescue, transformation, and forgiveness. It is our great privilege to be part of that rescue effort, using all we are and have to fuel the mission of Christ.

That is, we'll hear His perspective on the responsibility we have from God to use all He has given us to "confess" Christ before a watching world. We'll focus on our time, our skills, and our money, but our accountability really includes everything about us, since it is God who gives us the very air we breathe.

Health is a hot topic these days. One Christian book retailer recently advertised a special sale on 12 different, new books about health. In the past year, I have been given 3 books on the subject. Last week, one local newspaper published a special section on the subject. It's all over the internet and television, too. It seems that a very large number of people are interested in health issues.
