When facing Goliath, David's unique perspective allows him to focus on the bigness of God instead of the stature of the giant before him. Compared to God's might, Goliath is puny and weak. So when we question how we could possibly do anything to remedy the problems of the world, we need only to realize that our God is plenty big and plenty strong to defeat the giants we confront.

David is going to see all that he desire destroyed and his family taken from him. It shouls us that noone excpet God controls and ordains all things. Our job is to thank God for everything so that a root of bitterness will not set into our lives. The Christian life is life in the strength and power of God, They Holy Spirit.

In the transfiguration we see a momentary glimpse of Jesus's divinity and true greatness. This vision strengthened the disciples -- and strengthens us -- for a lifetime of whatever hardship lies ahead of us. Doormats, Hissy Fits & Power Plays
Worldly people demand their way by making you feel miserable or powerplays. Or they are doormats. But the kingdom and its citizens are marked by meekness: strength under control, that doesn't demand its way but waits for God to act. While we wait, we put our sinful desires to death by the power of the Spirit.
