Every one of us needs to be a good student in the school of life and not waste experience. Psalm 108 is an arrangement of two of David's previous Psalms from two separate experiences. Here we find the Psalmist applying the lessons learned in former struggles to the new dilemma at hand. This message provides valuable insights for each of us going through the various difficulties of life.
, Gen 32:28 - You have struggled with God and Men and prevailed. We need to struggle with God for fallen Adam/ Cursed person/ Traitor to go and to become a new person/ blessed person/ latter Adam to be formed in us. We need to struggle with Men -and prevail 1. our own flesh 2. carnal people 3. people influenced by demons and spirits 4. people influenced by the fallen angel - in the form of godliness (in the form of Angel of light)
Stay focused on the mission before you! Paul addresses Timothy...And You Timothy as one called to engage daily in spiritual warfare cannot afford to get distracted by everyday affairs of the Roman Empire ...(v. 1) hold to the divine truths of God's word that I have taught you; (v. 2) fulfill the great commission of the church through the making of disciples by teaching faithful men to obey all that Christ gave us and pass it on to others. Now in verses 3-4 he uses the metaphor of a soldier which all within the Roman Empire would understand ... and in vs 5 he uses an example that all within the Greek culture would understand ... that of an athlete.
We all struggle! We struggle not just with external challenges but with internal challenges and, yes, with what the Bible calls sin. This struggle raises some questions: Is it ever possible to win? When I mess up what does God think of me? Is there a sin too big for God to forgive? If I struggle with some sin am will I go to heaven? Our passage will help us make sense of the struggle.
