Stubbornness
There are many tragedies in the world that are simply inexplicable. We will never understand them this side of heaven. However, there are many tragedies that we can explain. These usually come about when someone is bound and determined to do things their way, even though they know it's destructive. This behavior pattern is called stubbornness and it is always followed by pain. Find out why and what you can do about it. John 9; Judges 2:6-19; Heb 3:7-13; 1John 5:14-15
Submission vs. Rebellion
God allows the rebellious ones to flourish for a season, but they will eventually meet their fate. The secular world finds submission repulsive, but God honors the one who submits to his will.
The Easy Way or the Hard Way
There are two ways to do everything--the easy way and the hard way. The easy way seeks godly counsel and endeavors to follow God's will. The hard way insists on doing things our way—according to our opinions and preferences. Why do we so often choose the hard way? Because we are stubborn. We have allowed our opinions to become so set that not even God can move us. Its a tough way to live. God always wins. Jon 1:1-3, 4:1ff; Ex 8:1-12; 1Sam 8:6-21; Rom 1:18ff; Ps 81:8-16; Jas 1:20, Matt 6:15

A hard heart is the opposite of humility and it is a heart that resists God. There is a pathway to a soft heart we can learn from the Exodus of Egypt – here’s a heads up – humility is going to be a big part of it.
