Sermons About Substitutionary-atonement
The Aftershock in Our Lives
It is easier to see and feel the impact of sin collectively when we see the news, but many times it is easy to admit our own brokenness. Many times we are willing to admit that the world is messed up but unwilling to admit our own lives are messed up. So we begin a masquerade to cover the brokenness and hide our pain. We do different things to impress different people and sometimes even in an attempt to impress God. We are afraid to admit our own brokenness because it would mean we are needy. We are ashamed to admit our own brokenness because it makes us feel dirty; but the reality is that only when we admit our brokenness can we find healing and can God through Jesus Christ put our lives back together again.

Jesus Died In Our Place For Our Sins
We continue to ask the question, "Why did Jesus have to die?" This week the bad news is that we're all sinners, and, as Paul said in Romans 6, "the wages of sin is death." The good news is that Jesus died in our place for our sins and paid the ultimate penalty for sin: death. He died so that we don't have to.

Walking By the Spirit Part 1
Paul moves from our great privilige to our great responsibility- to walk in/by the Spirit. It is founded on the graces of justification & adoption, and is the grace of sanctification. It has both positive and negative aspects: the fruit of the Spirit & the putting to death of the desires of the flesh. This sermon covers putting sin to death.

No Other Gospel
There is (another) crisis over the gospel. It is not a matter of semantics, but one that revolves around whether or not we are united with Christ and recipients of grace. Paul here reveals some of the basic elements of the gospel while warning the Galatian churches they are in danger of severing themselves from Christ through this false teaching.

Song of the Eternal Priest
David has a vision of "I AM" making promises to his Lord. The eternal Son became a man to be a kingly priest, like Melchizedek, to bear God's wrath for His people.

Run, Christian, Run
The life of faith is compared to running a marathon. To continue to run we must get rid of all that hinders, sin that entangles and keep our eyes focused on Jesus. Jesus is our supreme example of what it means to live by faith, but also the One who ran the race to win the grace needed for us to run.

Ambassadors
This week, we examined our calling to be "ambassadors for Christ". Pastor Kevin taught specifically on three characteristics of ambassadors: 1. Ambassadors care deeply about the King who has sent them and the Kingdom they represent 2. Ambassadors care deeply about the people to whom they are sent 3. Ambassadors seek to build bridges between faith and culture

Adoption (Revised)
This is another version of my sermon on our adoption. Unlike the other version, this has the full sermon! Our adoption into God's family is the highest blessing of the Gospel. I outline the benefits and responsibilities of this gracious status.

The Biggest Sinner You Know
We all tend to think of others as being bigger sinners than ourselves. Paul saw it the other way around, and wanted us to as well. This statement is a summary of the whole Bible. We'll examine how Jesus saves, and why he saves sinners.
