Ugly Things May Turn Out Good ... But They Are Still Ugly
It is easy to fall for pragmatism, the idea that it doesn't matter how you get there, so long as you get there. That type of life leads to great problems. The good news is that God is a God of grace overrule our own sinfulness. It won't make our ugliness of sin any prettier, but it will accomplish God's good purpose.

My "Adams Family" Tree
As familiar as we have become with the basic elements of the Christmas story, there are also a number of "stories behind the story" that have never made the big screen ... radically inclusive and/or exclusive stories taking place in the shadows. Each one carries major implications for how we approach this story, and how we approach the Christ. This weekend we're going to pull back the veil with Matthew as he makes some startling revelations about Jesus' family tree. Breaking with tradition, Matthew chooses to include some highly questionable characters in his list of Jesus' ancestors, and in doing so, I believe he opens the door wide for some of us to walk through ... crazy family trees and all!
