Sermons about Teaching
Parenting involves a two step process: teaching and training.
Acts 5 displays an ongoing theme throughout church history: the church exists in conflict.
We all go through different times and seasons in this life. How we go through them is the real key to victory. :-) This message will give you some much needed insight regarding going through times of transition. God bless you.
In this video, we simply set commentary aside, ask a question, and allow Scripture to answer the question for us.
WHO WERE SOME OF THE MOST POWERFUL AND EFFECTIVE CHRISTIANS OF ALL TIME? Peter, John, and the apostle Paul were all awesome examples of Christians. ● Peter… his bold preaching brought thousands to salvation in Christ. ● John, (the guest of Heaven) was shown a sneak preview of the end times. ● And Paul, who could confidently say… "follow me, as I follow Christ". BUT DID THEY START OUT THAT WAY? After Jesus finished His work on earth, having died (paying the penalty for our sins) and then rising from the grave (conquering death), and finally encouraging and commissioning His follower to spread this “Good News” to the whole world… WHAT DID PETER & JOHN AND THE REST OF THESE EYE WITNESSES DO? ● Did they hit the streets running as they turned the world upside-down? ● NO, THEY HID IN FEAR, keeping themselves hidden away with 120 other believers. (Sure they were waiting for direction from Heaven, but they were also afraid!) THEY WERE NOT YET EQUIPPED TO DO THE WORK GOD HAD CALLED THEM TO…● WHAT WERE THEY MISSING? ● THEY WERE DEFINITELY BELIEVERS, for the Spirit of God dwelt within them (for none can be saved without the conviction of the Holy Spirit.) The Bible is clear on this, that the Holy Spirit in-dwells (or makes His home) in every believer. (Eph. 1:13-14.) BUT THEY STILL ALL NEEDED SOMETHING MORE! (What more could anyone need than the personal instruction from Jesus Himself!) THEY NEEDED A BAPTISM OF POWER, the power to be His witnesses, that which was prophesied by John the Baptist when he declared: "I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.” (Matthew 3:11) ● We’re not talking about water baptism, but the Baptism in the Holy Spirit- which Jesus baptizes us with! BEING FILLED (IMMERSED) IN THE HOLY SPIRIT GIVES US GOD’S POWER TO IMPACT OUR WORLD. (Acts 1:8) “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” YOU NEED THIS BAPTISM OF POWER! This life-changing event (experience) is available & promise to every believer. ● Both the first apostles & later on the apostle Paul needed to be baptized in the Holy Spirit (filled with the Spirit) (Acts 9:17-18) ● We need to be infused with the same power that raised Christ from the dead. Read. (John 20:19-22) then (Acts 1:4-5) and also (Acts 2:1-21) WHAT HAPPENED WHEN THEY WERE FILLED WITH HOLY SPIRIT? ● These Believers were change from timid fearful followers, without direction, hiding from the world, to bold fearless leaders, directed by God’ Spirit and empowered with supernatural gifts that made those around them tremble. THIS BAPTISM PROVIDES US ALSO, the Power to become witnesses for God. ● Jesus’ ministry produced results because He operated by the leading & power of the Holy Spirit. ● This dynamite power is available to you as well – Jesus said in (John 14:12) "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.” ● We can only expect these kinds of results if we also receive this Baptism of Power and operate by the leading and power of the Spirit. ● Sad to say, many Christians have never been taught this power is available to them. HAVE YOU RECEIVED THIS BAPTISM OF POWER? If you want it ASK FOR IT… ask Jesus to baptize you in the Holy Spirit... ● It is something you need ● It is something you should desire ● It is the only way to fight the spiritual battle all Christians are engaged in. Don’t argue about whether you have been filled before (If there is doubt ask again). CONTINUE TO ASK AND CONTINUE TO BE FILLED!
Is the Bible both good and completely true? How you answer that question affects everything about your life. Using 2 Timothy 3:16-17, this sermon seeks to both acknowledge the "God-breathed" inspiration of Scripture, while also demonstrating the personal affects of the inspired Word on each person who follows and believes God.
