The Word of God and Corporate Worship
After two of Jacob's sons, Simeon and Levi, enact sinful revenge against the men of Shechem for sin committed against their sister by one man of the city (Gen. 34)--a vengeance that was partly fueled by Jacob's indifference to the whole matter--Jacob and his household are placed in a dangerous situation. Jacob fears for his safety and that of his household. In the midst of this, God tells Jacob to go to Bethel and make an altar that he and his household would worship God. It reveals that the fundamental purpose for which God creates his covenant people is for the worship of God. Thus, it is the worship of God that God's people must make as their focus. According to Genesis 35 it will mean that they pursue holiness, encounter God's protection and focus on who God is and what God does.
Is Jesus the One or Should We Keep Looking For Another Person?
Have you professed faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, but sometimes ask yourself if He is truly the One? Do not be discouraged by this, as even John the Baptist had the same doubt at one point (Luke 7:19). John's (or yours) faith was not failing him; he just needed strengthening and affirmation of his faith. When you doubt, pray for strength and affirmation from our God.
Overcoming Under Siege: Triumphing in a Pagan World
This message looks at the life of Daniel as he is taken prisoner from Jerusalem and forced into the circles of power and paganism in Babylon. His refusal to compromise and accommodate the pagan influences arrayed against him in education, religion and the arts is a powerful example of what to do when the secular world presses in. This is especially important for the generation of young adults coming up in the church today in America.

Real (1 John 1:1-4)
In the opening of his letter, John makes it clear: Jesus is real. The follow up questions in his letter are: Who is the real Jesus? And what do His real followers look like. This sermon sets the stage for a series in 1 John and the importance of orthodoxy. Right belief in Jesus helps us navigate the latest trends and theological reductionism, so that we can have fellowship with Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
