Sermons About The-fall
Sin enters the world
Gen 1-2 is all about God making the world being. We don’t live there – that’s past. We live in ch 4 where life is real, rough & raw – where there’s birth & life; murder & hatred. In order to know how we’ve arrived at ch 4, we MUST examine ch 3. Gen 3 gives us the reason why the world is as it is. In Gen 3 Everything goes wrong. Humans and all creation are plunged into darkness, as the judgment of God now descends on all things. From everything being good, & humans very good, 1:31, we now see the bad and the ugly.

The Anatomy of Temptation
Do you know the feeling of shame and loneliness that comes from sin? Have you every found yourself in the despair of guilt and wondered how you got there? If we're honest, we can all relate to this reality and so can our first parents: Adam and Eve. In this story of a tree, a serpent, a forbidden fruit and a man and a woman, we find that the strategy of the enemy and the components of temptation don't change. We learn how to fight temptation and overcome sin and we learn that sin takes hold when we begin to doubt God's word and God's goodness.

"Confusing...Deceitful...Reality"
The world in which we live is a cruel place. From a young age we constantly get a message of "You're Not Good Enough!" drilled into our heads. The world is also full of deceit; it dangles "hope," in the form of the proverbial carrot in front of a donkey, because if we work real hard we just might be "good enough." Ironically, when we encounter God's Word it says, "you're not good enough" as well. However, God is gracious.
