Sermons About Timothy
Sacred Spokes: 1 Timothy 4.1-10
What are you paying attention to? What are you constantly being nourished on? Are you engaged with the disciplines of the Christian life? Paul tells the young pastor, Timothy, that we should discipline ourselves for the purpose of godliness because it is profitable for all things, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. Today we will look at four sacred spokes that are huge to the motion and movement of our life with Christ: The Word, Prayer, Fellowship, and Witness. These are individual and corporate disciplines that we need to pay attention to, be nourished on and engaged in.

Leaving a Legacy
Practicing "NO Trace" camping is a good idea. Practicing "NO Trace" living is a bad idea. As believers in Jesus Christ we are to make an impact on the people and world around us. Leaving a legacy that points people to Christ means that we must live a legacy that points people to Christ. The very personal opening words of the this letter to the young pastor Timothy from the Apostle Paul reveals how to live and leave a Godly legacy.

Responsibility
Leadership and Responsibility are inseparable. Winston Churchill wisely said, "the price of Greatness is responsibility". The Apostle Paul writing to the young pastor Timothy wrote him regarding leadership and responsibility in the church. The reality is that we all are called to live with responsibility in the church and our daily lives. Responsibility is still the price of greatness. Answer the call of responsibility and everyone benefits.

GO FOR IT!
Following Christ as a believer and as a church cannot be done from the sidelines. This is an all out, pull out the stops, full-on, GO FOR IT!!! effort. Our challenge is to protect and guard the ourselves and the church from any teaching that tries to add to the gospel or is in conflict with what God's word says. We need to train ourselves to be ready for this challenge. Finally, we must watch our life and doctrine closely. Every Christian needs to Go For It by knowing what they believe and live it out without reservation.

instructions 4 the church
There are a lot of churches in the world. Our goal is not to be just another church. Our goal has to be...to be a church that honors God. The Apostle Paul writes to the young Pastor Timothy to encourage him and to give instructions for the church. If we will follow these instructions we will be the kind of church Jesus wants and our world so desperately needs.

Fight the GOOD Fight
Most of us see fighting as wrong...but here's the truth- there are some things worth fighting for! This week the Apostle Paul delivers a charge to young Timothy to fight the GOOD fight. Following Christ means getting uncomfortable and it truly is the fight of our lives. Christ fought and died for us so that we can win the fight.
