Giving Back: The Testing of God Malachi 3:6-12 (1 of 4) INTRODUCTION: When you go to a doctor for your annual check-up, they often begin to poke, prod, and press various places, all the while asking, "Does this hurt? How about this?" If you cry out in pain, one of two things has happened. Either the doctor has pushed too hard, without the right sensitivity, or, more likely, there's something wrong, and the doctor will say, "We'd better do some more tests. It's not supposed to hurt there!" So it is when pastors preach on stewardship and financial responsibility. Sometimes we can cry out in discomfort, criticizing that all the church does is preach on money. Either the minister has pushed too hard or perhaps there's something wrong. Well, we don’t guilt people around here….you know that. But we do preach the truth because of our desire to be strong in the Word. And in all honesty, when we push (a.k.a. preach) on the area of stewardship, we're in need of the Great Physician because it's not supposed to hurt there. So, we begin a four-part series on a very important topic: Giving Back Today we explore the subject of tithing as shared in Malachi 3:6-12.
