While Jesus was on Earth, he attracted many followers with the promise of a simple set of rules and teachings. What drove people away was his claims to not only be the only way to God, but that he was God himself. You have a choice to make. Was he a liar and a crazy man, or was telling the truth? There is no middle ground.
You turn out just like those who train you. A disciple learns and practices the teachings of the teachers. Every disciple is a Christian and every Christian is a disciple. Discipleship is the process of being trained to live like Jesus. The best way? Connecting to a Godly teacher.
When we develop a pattern to be trained in the Word, it will make us different as we see the life changing character of God.
Our elders and staff take some time to look back and take stock of the fruit that is being produced in us and through us.
Sermon delivered by Pastor Ginger Medley and supported by biblical references fro 1 John 3:1-3; 1 Samuel 16:6-13; and Exodus 4:10-11. Reference is made to famous people who have failed, but kept trying, trying again for successful lives. Failure is falling down and not trying to get back up; failure is a delay, not a denial. We fall down, but we get up, but only through the Grace of God and our will to keep pressing on, to experience success.
That stepping up that is needed for us to carry out the trust God has given us, where will the power for that job come from? How will God bring about the change in us as individuals and as a congregation? God's Spirit will do that work in us and He will do it by His Word.
