All Other Ground is Sinking Sand
But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. ~Matthew 7:26

The Mind of the Life (Psalm 1)
Life is filled with all sorts of landscape. An all terrain faith is equally balanced for the breathtaking view from the mountaintop and the confusing trek though a cold, dark valley. It provides adequate support for walking in rough, rocky stretches and stability for the slippery spots. In this exploration of the Psalms, we will see that no matter where you find yourself in life there is an appropriate faith response to your life situation. Are you ready for the hike?

Psalm 1: Immersed
Psalm 1 speaks of happy people who delight themselves in the law of God. The Psalm writer says these people are like trees planted near living water. In his sermon, Pastor Jason reminds us of what Jesus says are the two greatest commandments: to love God and to love your neighbor. If we delight ourselves in God's law, focusing on these two central commandments, we will be immersed in God's living water--a source for our continued outreach and compassion to others.

Speak to the mountain
Summary: Our words are what we use to attack the enemy. When we say what God says to our enemies, it’s like shooting bullets at them. When we talk the problem, it’s like throwing cookies at them. Our words are the bullet, our mouth is the gun, but love is the firing pin. We have got to get God’s word in our mouth and fire at the enemy that’s standing in our way. We have to speak to the mountain. Don’t ask God to do anything about it, stop crying about it. Stop talking about how big it is, stop telling everyone you meet that will listen to you how big it is, and speak to it. Command it to go!

My "Adams Family" Tree
As familiar as we have become with the basic elements of the Christmas story, there are also a number of "stories behind the story" that have never made the big screen ... radically inclusive and/or exclusive stories taking place in the shadows. Each one carries major implications for how we approach this story, and how we approach the Christ. This weekend we're going to pull back the veil with Matthew as he makes some startling revelations about Jesus' family tree. Breaking with tradition, Matthew chooses to include some highly questionable characters in his list of Jesus' ancestors, and in doing so, I believe he opens the door wide for some of us to walk through ... crazy family trees and all! These are some "grandma stories" you'll never see in a Children's Christmas pagent! Key Passages: 2 Corinthians 5:19 & Psalm 103:12

God's Christmas List
The things that we associate with Christmas, gift giving, a tree, are all things that God had in mind when He gave us Christmas.
