Jason Vance describes meekness as "power under control" rather than weakness. Jesus is our example of meekness in that He sought to uphold the truth more than to defend or advance himself.
We live in a world that professes MANY truths. Yet.......when philosophies and beliefs contradict one another, they cannot all be true. Even in the church, there are many disputes about truth. How can we deal with such things?
Does what a person believe matter? I can assure you there are parents at Penn State who would say yes; what one man believed destroyed my kid's life. People in Boston would say yes. What 2 young men believed has devastated us. The Bible says: "As a man thinketh in his heart so is he." Proverbs 23:7 So what you believe not only matters to God it matters to man. That's why Paul is in prison. He said what the Greek culture teaches; what the Roman Empire demands; what my former Jewish colleagues embrace cannot be amalgamated into the church without severe damage being done from compromising divine truth with human error and for that Nero will cut off his head.
