When I Can Coast Or Retire
When will I be happy with God? Often we think it is either: 1. When I have done enough to please him (see last week’s sermon). Or, 2. When I can coast or retire so we can focus on our spiritual life. Actually, you will be happy with God when you press to know Christ more!

When I Get Recognition!
When will I be happy with others? When I get recognition! But we are never satisfied. Only the gospel can make us happy with others! In the gospel we find that God values us, delights in us, and gives us glory beyond our wildest imagination. The gospel makes us so happy that we are free to humble ourselves and follow Jesus by serving others, which makes us even happier!

A New Creation
The resurrection of Jesus initiated the new creation. All who trust Him are united to Him and participate in the new creation even as we await the renewal of creation at His return. Until then, we live under the influence of the new creation- doing good, loving others and going on mission.

Walking by the Spirit Part 2
Paul contrasts the works of the flesh with the fruit of the Spirit as he discusses the shape our freedom is to take. The indwelling Spirit leads us to obey God out of love, in part by leading us to a greater knowledge of God and our position in Christ. We are responsible to keep in step with Him that Christ may be formed in us.

Sons and Heirs
The gospel brings us a new status- that of sons. Like the Galatians, we can slip back into living like slaves. But the Father sent His Son to redeem us that we might receive adoption as sons, and the Spirit to experience this status subjectively.

Living in Line with the Gospel
False gospels produce pride and fear which destroy community. The gospel (we are accepted by God thru faith in Jesus' work for us) produces humility and security as a foundation for Christian community.

Three Things We Know III -- 1 John 5:18-20
In this last sermon looking at what we know, or should know as those who believe in Jesus Christ, we find that the source of the first two points we know is found in what Jesus Christ has done. This is the great good news that we all need to know, and remember.

Our Union With Christ (Romans 6:1-5)
Paul asks -- and answers -- the question of whether the gospel of salvation by grace through faith leads to lawlessness. But his answer isn't to threaten us with the law once again and require our obedience. Instead, he points to who we are -- we are now in Christ, united to Christ. Christ's death becomes our own death to sin, so that we have been freed by this death from slavery to sin. And Christ's resurrection becomes our own life, so that we now live under the rule of grace and mercy. The gospel does not lead to lawlessness because the gospel frees us from the very power of sin!
