Sermons About Victory
Warrior King
Psalm 45 speaks of a Warrior King whose "throne is forever and ever." His might is unequaled and His victory is sure. Upon His thigh is His sword, with which He strikes down His enemies "for the cause of truth and meekness and righteousness." Here we see Jesus, the King of eternity, in His splendor and power. As Christians, we are saved by His triumphant victory over the power of death and hell, but there is yet more. According to Romans, we who have been reconciled to God through His Son's death are also saved in this life by His life. Indeed, the scripture is laden with promises for those who believe, but we must align ourselves with those promises--we must align ourselves with the Scripture itself! The Word of God containing all our promises is the very same Sword which Jesus wields against His enemies. We have the choice of being saved by the King, or being destroyed by Him.

Pi-Ha Hi'Roth
While there is yet the thought of returning to Egypt within Israel, they are not free. Thus, God leads them to a place called Pi-Ha Hi'roth where they absolutely must be totally separated from Egypt to survive. Though they face what appear to be terrible circumstances and imminent death, God's greater purpose is their total freedom. In the same way, believers in Christ are ripped off by the devil because they still harbor the thought of returning to the old ways. As long as they are not totally separated from their old ways of thinking and patterns of sin they do not experience the fullness of God's salvation. Christians must abandon all else and submit themselves to God in faith and obedience in order to stop being ripped off.

Come Out Of Her My People
God is calling his people to come out of the world. He is calling us out of the world's priorities, the worlds lies, the worlds passions and is calling us to Christ. As long as our priorities are on the world, they will not be on Christ. God is calling us to come out of her and come to Christ.

Where to Start the Conversation
Combining religion and politics is something not to be treaded lightly upon. In today's sermon we go back to Psalm 46 for the way we as Christians should approach this year's, and ever other, election or drastic change of current events.

The Gospel in Action
Paul's letter to Philemon is a wonderful example of how we can apply the gospel to everyday problems. One of the applications we see in this letter relates to relationships, especially those that have conflict. There is a rift in the relationship between Philemon and his slave Onesimus. And Paul wants the two of them to be reconciled. And so he not only encourages reconciliation, he also explains how God empowers that reconciliation. And in doing so, he helps us see how God can empower reconciliation and forgiveness in our own relationships and how God gives us others to encourage us to live in the way God empowers us to live.
