Sermons About Wall
In$ide Out
Some of the most destructive opposition we will face in our lives does not come at us from the outside. The insidious nature that is found on the inside will destroy much more quickly. In Nehemiah chapter 5 we find that God's chosen people are imploding with sin from the Inside out. The catalyst for the sin is the love of money. If we are going to see God build his church and his kingdom then his people are going to need to be transformed from the Inside Out.

Don't Quit Building Walls
In Pastor Mike's final sermon Cornerstone Baptist Church before leaving for seminary, he examines the life of Nehemiah. God led Nehemiah to go rebuild the walls around Jerusalem. This sermon looks Nehemiah's life and at all the opposition that came from the enemies of God as he led the Jews in rebuilding the walls around the city. No matter what Satan and the world through at Nehemiah though; he never quit building the walls for God. We likewise must never quit serving God and building the walls that are the tasks he has given each of us to do. Each of as blood bought born again Christian needs to remind ourselves why we can't quit serving God. I can't quit because...

Missing the Glory of God in Our Midst
In Nehemiah, the nobles of Jerusalem chose to cling to the comfort and safety of their political alliances and missed the glory of God which stood so clearly in their midst. They feared the glory of God because they knew that to see it would cause them to fall greatly in their own esteem. However, by missing out on the glory of God, the nobles foolishly traded their own eternal joy for what seemed to be an economically wise relationship at the time. Today, we too have the opportunity to see the glory of God and experience the amazing joy that comes as we fall in our own esteem and yet realize that the God of the universe is for us. He is our advocate, our savior, our refuge, our creator, and our friend; and beholding his glory can fill our lives with joy, truth, meaning, and purpose. We must be vigilant not to make the same mistake as the nobles of Jerusalem and trade his glory for lesser things.

The Suffering of The Mission and The Call To Perseverance
This message is a call for all of us to give our lives to loving God with all our hearts and proclaim his beauty to our neighbors. It is a call that when heeded leads inevitably to weariness, discouragement and suffering. In the midst of our inevitable suffering comes the subtle temptation of Satan to return to a more comfortable life. This message is a call to fight that temptation with a vision of the glory of God that is more beautiful than the empty comforts of this world. It is a call to set our eyes upon our savior who gave up the comforts of heaven and earth to be rejected, suffer, and die for us. As we do this we will find that suffering on mission is far more satisfying then the comforts of this world.
