Sermons About Wealth
Discipleship and the Corporate World Session 2
How do you live out the teachings of Jesus in the corporate world? How do you live as His disciple in your public life, doing the work of a business professional for the glory of God and for the emerging shape of the corporate culture? The Discipleship and the Corporate World Seminar served to equip Christians to be leaders in business who shape the ethos of their corporate domains. Taking place on Saturday, February 7, 2009, several key leaders from the corporate world challenged us to exercise influence in the public arena of our professional lives by pursuing excellence, integrity, justice, compassion, creativity, and generosity. The seminar was held at Trinity Baptist Church in Manhattan. Speakers for the event include: Britt Harris (former CEO of Bridgewater Associates and current CIO of Texas Retirement Systems of Texas); Richard Johnson (Formerly Senior Client Relationship Manager for Citigroup); Obie McKenzie (Managing Director of Client Relationships, Blackrock) and more.

Enjoy Your Things, But Don't Make Things Your Joy
Lead Pastor Jeff Lawrence's son, Mike, had an accident while they were vacationing in La Jolla, California. On Sunday morning, October 5th, he fell out a window onto a concrete walkway nearly three stories below. Amazingly, Mike's life was spared, and in time he should see a full recovery. Jeff and family remained with Mike in California while he was recovering. This traumatic experience combined with several weeks in a beautiful place created space for some intense reflection. Jeff will be sharing some of what he's been learning in a new sermon series called "Living in La Jolla: Field Notes from Heaven-on-Earth."
