Sermons About Wholeness
The Guardian
Peter concludes his teaching on submission to authority with a straightforward address concerning the Servant Jesus. This passage is very likely an adaptation of an early Christian hymn about Christ. It suits Peter’s theme beautifully as, in close dependence upon Isaiah 53, it describes how Jesus, the Suffering Servant of the Lord, submitted to suffering in this world because of His obedience to His heavenly Father. Being obedient to His Father did not deliver Him from suffering, but led Him straight to it! Through His suffering we have found forgiveness, restoration, peace and healing.

God's Concern for the Whole Person: Body, Mind, and Spirit
God's concern is not just for eternity, but for the here and now also. And God is concerned not just about the soul, but the body and mind as well. God who created and redeemed us is passionately concerned about the whole person - body, mind, and spirit. Understanding and living stewardship in daily life, we are called to manage God's gift of our health and well-being. On the church's calendar, October 18 commemorates St. Luke, Evangelist. Luke was also a physician, so there are strong healing connections associated with this day. Into our stress-filled world broken by sin, Jesus has come to bring healing and shalom - his saving peace.

Steel and Flesh
The Sword, God's Word is here to bring us closer to Him. Often we look at scripture as a band-aid something to just make us feel better, however what this is all about is to bring us into a closer relationship with our Creator! We often look at this as a bad thing, especially since a sword is given to us a the picture, but what we need to see is that just as a surgeon cuts away the bad, so does God so healing, and wholeness of relationship can be restored.

Fruit of the Spirit 4 - Peace
Peace is more than just an absence of outward hostilities. It actually has nothing to do with how things are going on the outside. The peace of God comes from the inside. It has to do with completeness, wholeness. The man walking in peace knows that no matter what happens, God has provided for him to have the victory.
