Big Prayers for One Another
Paul's prayer for the Colossians is a beautiful example of the kind of 'big' prayer that we should be praying consistently for one another, a prayer we can only pray in Jesus' name.

Just Ask ... ?
We witness it nearly every day…the sacrifices that good parents make for their children. The financial and time commitments that go into raising healthy kids are HUGE but you seldom hear a parent complain! Jesus points out the best of our traits as earthly parents and then draws a comparison…if this is how good moms and dads look after their children... how much more will your heavenly Father...? How much have we understood about the Father’s generous heart toward His children? Will we trust? Do we believe? Will we be bold enough to ask? Key Passage: Matthew 7:7-12

Leaving the Thin Life
Becoming a thick Christian is our pursuit as we continue in Romans 6. If we will make progress that glorifies God; if we will make progress where our own soul is healed and thickened with the character of Christ, it will be because we take sin with utmost seriousness. Sunday we will consider vv. 1-4, where we learn that sin is no short list like sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll. Sin is not just those few things that would really embarass us if we were caught. No, unfortunately it is much more. But there is also good news, life-changing news: we owe sin nothing. Its wages have been paid. We are free to leave it behind and move on, to live where Christ is, in newness of life. Sunday we begin to learn how. Try to read Romans 6 before Sunday, if you haven't already. Come, let us walk in the light of the Lord.

2 Samuel 17 - God's Kingdom Cannot Fail
In the 17th Chapter of 2 Samuel we are drawn into the espionage and the ntelligence reporting of Hushai of Ahithophel's plan to destroy David and his followers. Like the main theme of the book we see God sovereignty over the choices and affairs of me when the inspired writer in vese 14 reveals to us that God Himself had ordained (willed, chosen) to defeat the counsel of Ahithophel so that He might bring harm upon Absalom. If you are a christian you can take confort in the will of God by 1) understanding the different meanings for "will of God," 2) seeing every event of your life as a comonent of God providential plan, 3) beliving that God in pursuing His glory is also pursuing your greatest good. We see examples of God's providential destruction of Ahithophel, protection of the informate priests (Jonathan and Ahimaaz), and the provision for David and his mighty men. Without a belief in the sovereign and providential hand of God, no one would have any confort in this life or the next. Listen and be prepared to praise God almighty!

John 12:37-50 The Pain of Unbelief
Does God harden your heart, or does your unbelief harden your heart? This appears to be the question of the ages, and one that is a bit of a paradox, since they both appear true in scripture. Our choices bear responsibility and have grim consequences, but God in His sovereignty uses our choices to accomplish His will. Our will/choices are proximate, while God’s remains ultimate. God does not violate our will, but He is in complete control of the results. This may be the grand mystery of how this all works, but it is the heart of a loving God to save, which He has done to His glory through His Son Jesus Christ.

As You Wish
How do we get to the point we can tell God as You wish? We have to nurture our relationship with Jesus, listen carefully so we don't miss the instructions and stop making excuses and put the plan into action. It also requires us to allow God to do His part, to let God see we are serious, and to rejoice in the provisions of God.
