As intentional and heart felt the Magi’s homage may have been, they seemed to follow their own assumptions of what the Messiah ought to be. Using Isaiah 60 as their blueprint, the wise men ended up in Jerusalem, looking for a child who was not there.

Every Christmas reminds us of the pagan nature of the festival , and causes many to question the origins of our own story. In our passage today we will see the reality of this witness to Pagan wise men who utilized their Pagan means to locate a divine end. God speaks in the midst of heresy because He is a gracious God who sheds His grace upon the wicked and the righteous.
