Sermons About Witness
A City on a Hill 3
This week we look at a parable that Jesus taught that will give us some insight on sharing our faith. The truth that Jesus teaches will give us an understanding that there is a clear process that someone goes through before they come to faith in Him. As frustrating and as scary as sharing our faith may be, which is why we don’t do it, you may be surprised that you are already involved in the process in someone’s life. Track with us today as we end this series A City On A Hill.

Ready to Give Reason and Be a Witness
Got hope? Do you have a real hope within you? Can you articulate your hope? I am always amazed at how many Christ-followers can’t. They freeze, they shrink back, or they punt to someone else. Pastors are called to be ready to preach “in season and out of season”; believers should be ready to “give reason for the hope that is within you” at any time. Today in the word we will be looking at Paul’s three successive trials and three defenses towards the end of Acts as he makes his way towards Rome. We will look at these with a goal of becoming more effective witnesses ourselves, and better able to articulate why we have hope.

A Humble Witness
My purpose for preaching this passage of Scripture is not so that you will have some good information on how you are to witness for Christ. But I want you to know what a true witness looks like and acts like and what his message is so that you can put that into practice. We are called to be Christ’s witnesses and when we witness we should do so in a manner worthy of the One to whom we are bearing witness of.

Witnesses To The Incarnation
From our text this morning, John 1:15-18, I want you to see four witnesses to the truth that the Word has indeed become flesh and dwelt among us. 1. John the Baptist is His witness. 2. We are His witnesses. 3. Moses is His Witness. 4. Jesus Christ is His own witness.

The Church in Ephesus: Revelation 2:1-7
The letter to the Ephesians in Revelation begins with a commendation. Jesus commends the Ephesians for their doctrinal purity. They have fought false teachings and have remained faithful to the truth without growing weary and giving up. Yet, though they have remained doctrinally pure, they have ceased to be faithful witnesses for Jesus because they lost her first love for Jesus. Jesus calls them to remember the depths of their sin and how much they have been forgiven. Some of us are like the prodigal son or the sinful woman in Luke 7, and we know we have been saved from a life of sin. We have been overwhelmed by his grace, but over time, the memory fades and we grow prideful and self-reliant. For others of us, the danger is that we have never had a sinful woman experience. We may not have ever felt desperate, out of control, absolutely empty, and needy. Our savior walks among his people and he sees them all. He will forgive us if we will stop trying to be perfect and simply fall at his feet and beg him for mercy. Run to the one who, though his face shown like the sun, willingly took on flesh to die on the cross in our place.

The Dream of a Kingdom - ENGAGE #3
In this series, we will study Daniel 1-6. There are many parallels between the situation Daniel faced and our situation today. Like Daniel, we work and live among a great variety of gods--not only those of other formal religions, but also the gods of achievement, independence, knowledge, pleasure, and ideology. In a religiously diverse culture which is at best indifferent and at worst hostile to faith in the one true God, what role should Christ-followers play in society? Rather than isolating ourselves or rejecting our world, we want to ENGAGE our world as people who trust in a powerful God, make positive contributions to society, and bring hope to others. If you've ever wondered how Monday-Saturday were related to Sunday, this series is for you.

Christian's Witness to the World, Pt. 2 (Matthew 5:14-16)
Christians are left in this world for one primary purpose: to be witnesses to the gospel of Jesus Christ. (possibly note challenge of bad witnesses) Last week we noted the Christian’s witnesses as salt - witness through the character and purity of life. This is week the Lord compares the church to light, which reveals by dispelling darkness. Christian are commended to the obedience and proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Christian's Witness to the World, Pt. 1 (Matthew 5:13)
We as Christians are in the world “but not of the world.” We are redeemed from sin, new creations in Christ, justified, adopted children of God, citizens of a different kingdom, but, have you ever thought of this: “Why am I still here?” Almost everything that defines you as a Christian you can do better in heaven (worship, love, wont’ sin!). Christians are in the world for one primary purpose: to be witnesses to the gospel of Jesus Christ. The church is God’s witness to a decaying and dark world. Jesus will picture this relationship with the world is illustrated with two metaphors: salt and light. These metaphors speak of her dual roles as preserver and proclaimer. We are going to take the first of these this morning and look at the Church’s role of preservation in a decaying world.
