Moses asked for God's name to know Him in order to do what God says. Pharaoh claimed not to know Moses' God in order not to do what God says. God tells the Israelites and the Egyptians that they will both know Him, and that there is no other God in all the earth. Through acts of wonder and devastation--the plagues--God draws His own people to worship Him without reservation, and He draws the Egyptians and all the world to know Him without hesitation. What does God need to do to convince you?
The apostles view was that when good things happened - great! When bad things happened - even better - because it was an opportunity to show others the transformation that was happening in their hearts.
