We Are Sealed To Be Clothed
Many churches do ministry day in day out without the Power of God. They have a great drama program, put up an awesome show for those who come to see it and may have a successful out-reach program. But they do it all in there own power. They did not wait to move till the power of the Spirit came upon them (Luke 24:49). Are you waiting patiently for His Power to come over you or did you also move out on your own?
The Christian Race: Considering Past Winners
Having identified the nature of saving faith in the Lord Jesus and given examples of it from the Old Covenant era, the writer of Hebrews drew the conclusion that the church is surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses. While it is conceivable that this cloud of witnesses may be able to see current Christians and the church on earth, the primary point made has to do with the truth that the cloud of witnesses testifies to us regarding the nature and reality of saving faith. Those who trusted in God for salvation during the Old Testament era reveal to us that we have to run with endurance the Christian life by laying aside obstacles that hinder us in the life of faith in Jesus, and laying aside the sin that clings so closely to us. In order for each of us to understand what these obstacles, we must understand that the nature of saving faith to which the great cloud of witnesses testifies is one that results in the Christian being regarded by the world as strange and given no place, so to speak, in the world, or as in exile (Heb. 11:13). It is a call to holy living; a life of faith and repentance that is rooted in the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the author and perfecter, or creator and completer of saving faith in him.
