The Enduring Word
This love relationship is brought about by several factors that Peter emphasizes here. The first and foremost influence in our lives is the “living” and “enduring” Word of God. We need to pay attention to what takes place in our lives “since” (v. 22) we have been purified by “obeying the Truth (Gospel)”.

Titus Chapter 2
In chapter 1 we saw why Paul wanted elders in every city in Crete: To protect the purity and integrity of the gospel. Now in Chapter II we see what Paul wanted Titus to teach to the people of Crete. “… speak the things which are fitting for sound doctrine.” (vs. 1) 3 Reasons Paul Gives Titus for Teaching Sound Doctrine: 1. So that no-one can malign the Word of God. (vs 5) 2. So that those who oppose you may be ashamed, because they have nothing bad to say. (vs 8) 3. So that the teaching about God is attractive. (vs 10) 11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men.12 It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self‑controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age,13 while we wait for the blessed hope–the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.

Spiritual Warfare - Offensive Weapons
To "war a good warfare" it is evident that you must take offensive action: This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare. (I Timothy 1:18) Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and has professed a good profession before many witnesses. (I Timothy 6:12) You are to fight this battle intelligently with purpose: I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air. (I Corinthians 9:26) Knowing your offensive weapons can give you the ability to fight with purpose instead of uncertainty.

Be Strong in the Lord Part 3
God has given the Christian two offensive weapons to take the fight to the enemy: the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, and all-prayer. Through these weapons the enemy’s kingdom can be invaded by the advance of the gospel to the glory of Christ.

For our Struggle
Ephesians chapter 6 tells us that our earthly struggles are not with flesh and blood but rather with spiritual forces of evil. John 10:10 tells us that the enemy of our souls comes only to kill, steal and destroy. So how do we overcome our struggles? How do we overcome these evil forces? We must fight this fight in prayer! We must know the Word of God to be able to recognize the devices of the enemy and resist them.

The Spirit Sword
Two vital elements of ancient warfare were the helmet and the sword. When it comes to spiritual warfare they are just as essential. We will study the significance of the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is God’s word, and how we are to use them in order to achieve victory against the devil.

Something To Hold On To
The Scriptures which are contained in, and only in, the Old and New Testaments are to be the final rule for the faith and life of every true believer. Anything else is compromise with the world and its system of beliefs. When faced with temptations to compromise, from without and within, we should remember the church at Pergamum and learn from them how to hold onto Jesus and to the faith once for all delivered to the saints.
