To be in the game for earthly trophies. (verse 12) 2. To spiritualize disobedience and give it a nice face. (verse 21) 3. To value status symbols of community, power, and prestige. (verse 22,23) 4. To esteem the wisdom of ME, MYSELF and I without consulting God’s guidance. (verse 23) 5. To have a greater fear of people then of God (verse 24) Five Benefits from fearing God You become the LORD’s confidant. (Psalm 25:13) You see the love and the good in His commands (Psalm 112:1) It motivates you toward obedience and brings a family blessing (Psalm 128) Holiness is perfected in you out of fear of God (1 Corinthians 7:1) Marriages can be restored in the fear of Christ (Ephesians 5:21)
