Sermons About Work
Working in Christ
The Christ-Centered Life, part 10: Living a life centered on Christ impacts the way we work. We no longer work just to please people, but primarily to serve and please Jesus. Though we are saved by grace, we have the joyful privilege of faithfully obeying and serving God.

Sacred Joy: Philippians 2.12-18
What is our responsibility as a believer in becoming more like Christ? What is God’s part in such a work? The New Testament says things like work out, fight, run, press on, put on, and put off when speaking to the Christian. Today we will see in Paul’s letter to the church at Philippi that we are to diligently work together with Christ in this work of becoming more like Jesus.

We Study Because We Love Jesus
People who love Jesus love the Church because 'she' is His body. As we all know, churches (i.e., local congregations) are made up of imperfect people...so relationships are difficult. Yet we are called to be at peace with one another. That command (it is not a suggestion but a command) raises a slew of questions. One question is, "How can someone be at peace with others if they are not at peace within their own person?"

The Office and the Jobsite
As a result of Adam's rebellion, work in this world is cursed and frustrated. Everyone experiences work environments that are frustrating because the created order is corrupted and our relationships within the workplace are corrupted. We also work in corrupt ways. We are lazy and disrespectful to employers. Furthermore, rather than stewarding creation as God's representatives, we abuse and mistreat created order. In Christ, work is restored to God's original intent as we perform it uprightly, with aim to His glory, and stewarding His earth in righteousness.

We Study to Do the Will of God
No study of a passage in the Bible is complete if it is not applied to one's life. God does not want a bunch of computers (heads full of information), He wants disciples (humans being transformed by knowledge because it compells them to action). The "words" portion of the sermon is short...but the actions lasted a while...
