Sermons about Work
Paul is continuing to show us how to put off the old clothes of sin and on the new clothes of Christ. Listen as pastor Brian Curtis teaches us how to put on the new clothes of truth, reconciliation, and honest work.
In the book of Colossians the first two chapters were on theology. Then beginning in chapter 3 that theology is applied to the church, to husbands and wives, to fathers and children, and now it is applied it to the market place. Christianity is meant to be radical in its intervention in humanity. The Lord does not dwell in some ethereal world, He makes very clear statements about His concern for the real world and following His ascension, Christ established "His body" the church to be the residue of who He is on earth. Christianity is meant to have a radical impact on who we are and how we live in the home, in the church, and in the market place. You can't be Christian and simply blend in with the world around you.
Our nation is more divided than at any time since the Civil War. Socialists insist that the national pie is being divided unfairly. Capitalists argue that it is better to make more pie than it is to worry about its distribution. The problem with both arguments is that our nation really doesn't have a pie problem. It has a moral problem. Everyone has become too eager to accept someone else's pie. God offers a way out, but it's supremely difficult. Matt 5:13-16
Our world desperately needs to see people of integrity in the church. The witness of Jesus requires men and women wanting to go beyond talking about Jesus to walking with Jesus.
The Present Work of Demons
In our 24/7 culture, the most radical thing a Christian can do is rest. Even in our imperfect week, our hope is found in Christ's perfect work for us. In this sermon series, we break from the Gospel of John to show the significance and relevance for practicing the Sabbath rest each week. In this message, Pastor Jeremy recaps Sabbath as 1. Imitation and then invites us to look to Sabbath as 2. Celebration!
