On the Shoulders of Giants
As we look back in history, we should be challenged AND encouraged by the godly example of so many who have gone before us! As we seek to build the kingdom of God in our day – we do so – "on the shoulders of giants!" Hebrews 11 tells us that the "world was not worthy of them!" Will history say the same of us? During these next few weeks, we are going to be looking together at the mission we believe God has called us to live out in our city and region. As we talk of the impact He would have us to have on the world around us, I pray that you will be personally challenged to step into His call on your life. John 15:18-16:33 Ministering from the Margins of Persecution
No matter how you choose to live, and how you choose to love, you will be hated in some degree. The fact of the matter all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted by those in opposition to Jesus. Jesus is both passionate and explicit in this passage in reminding us of the reality of living in Him to truly forsake the world (System of thought) and love God is an act of God in our lives by His Spirit.

Alternate Outlook
When facing Goliath, David's unique perspective allows him to focus on the bigness of God instead of the stature of the giant before him. Compared to God's might, Goliath is puny and weak. So when we question how we could possibly do anything to remedy the problems of the world, we need only to realize that our God is plenty big and plenty strong to defeat the giants we confront.
