Locking up Your Freedom - Galatians #9
What makes the Christian faith like no other? The good news of God’s grace is the bold claim that we are accepted by God not because we “follow the rules” or “fit the mold” but because Jesus gave his own life to rescue us. But many of us are still trying to earn God’s love with our performance rather than living in the freedom that Jesus has provided for us. In Galatians, Paul warns against the danger of religious systems that value people on grounds of accomplishment or status or cultural agreement. These things lock away our freedom in the futility of legalism, moral superiority and cultural arrogance. Focusing on either the racial/ethnic/cultural superiority or the moral successes of good works denies the gospel and divides Jesus’ followers. Join us as we explore how God offers us true freedom in Jesus and how the freedom of Christ transforms our hearts, our minds and lives.

Philippians 3:4-9 - No Jealousy
People are always promising something better and new. Paul was concerned about the Philippian church's ability to recongnize and refute these religous wolfs. He had already told this church to LOOK OUT for dogs, evil doers, and for those who mutilate the flesh. He nows give us an unparalleled description of his human achievements before he met Christ. He give this to show that noone has any reason for spiritual jealousy, because if he cannot bost in his achievements no one can. He tell them there is no reason for jealousy because we cannot depend on self-righteousness that come from privilege, race, nationality or any other inherited privilige. Secondly there is no reason for jealousy because we cannot depnd on our personal achievemtns to make us spiritual before God. Thirdly, there is no reason for jealousy because all that is gained in this life is not worth the value he place on a relationship with Christ. Finally, there is no jealousy becasue we depend on another's (Christ's) righteousness and not our own. As Christians we should loke for those who constant confidence is Jesus Christ, who constant boast is Jesus Chrsit, and whose constant delight is Jesus Christ and emulate then and nothing else.

You Are Worth Something
This sermon reminds us of how much we are worth because of what Jesus did for us. We are valuable, we are glorious, we are worth something not because of what we have done, but because of what God has done. It is an encouragment for those who are down, depressed, or lacking self-esteem.

The Fullness Of Worship
To worship the God of the Bible is to worship pure goodness, greatness, beauty, justice, wisdom and perfect love. In that sense God is absolutely worthy of our worship and to worship him is simply to see who he really is, what is at the heart of all of life and reality, to enjoy and celebrate a relationship with God and respond in a way that is healthy and life-giving for us.

The Worth Of Worship
The word "worship" comes from an old English word meaning "worthship". True worship is to see what God is worth and to give him what he is worth; to see and take to heart his worth in such a way that your whole person is engaged in a response.

How Much Are You Worth?
How the world values is not how God values. We look at worth in the form of success, money and prestige but Jesus came born in a a manger, a carpenter, who didn't have a place to call home but was worth everything.

Worth Dying For
At the beginning of all things we find God creating humanity in his image. Because of that lone event humanity is deeply loved and valued by our Creator. Playing on those early statements we find the apostle Paul clarify the relationship between a husband and a wife. But his statements have great significance for all our relationships.

Valuing Humanity
The culmination of God's creative activity is the creation of humanity in his own image. We reflect what God is like all the way down to the level of our gender. The question we have to wrestle with is, "Does God love me because of what I do or does God love me just because I'm me?" The answer that emerges in the Scriptures beginning in Genesis is that God loves us because he created us, end of story.
