Fountain of Youth Way
Youth -- health, strength, beauty, stamina, etc. -- is wonderful gift from God. We're to enjoy it, not waste, and don't worship it by trying to get it back after it's gone. Fear God and obey His commandments.

Countercultural Submission
The gospel calls for Christians to both lead and follow in countercultural ways. Leaders are to lead out of a sincere desire to serve others without any motivation to serve themselves. As they do so they are to be examples to the flock of what it means to follow Jesus in the city of man. They are not to do this for any earthly reward of any sort. They are to do it because they will one day stand before the Chief Shepherd who will give them an eternal reward. Likewise, God calls Christians to submit to the leaders of the church. Peter specifically mentions young people, since they are most likely to resist submission, but his command is applicable to everyone. Both leaders and followers are to be clothed in humility before God and each other. This is easy to say but impossible to do. Leaders often lead from the wrong motivations because they feel that above all they need to protect themselves and look out for themselves. Those under their care often resist submission because they also feel they need to protect themselves and look out for themselves. But Peter tells us how we can become the people he describes. Instead of looking out for ourselves we are to "cast all our anxiety on him because he cares" for us. When we truly believe that Jesus is our Chief Shepherd we can cast all of our cares on him and obey his commands to lead in humility and submit in humility.

Success in Ministry (PM)
Adam preaches 1 Tim. 4:11-16. True ministry success is speaking the truth, overcoming youthful criticism, making much of the Word, exercising the Spirit's gifting, habitually practicing God's expectations, staying focused, and staying faithful.

The Gospel and Family
TV families are built on the grotesque idea of our own brokenness, no even pointing to the ideal. It's easy for parents to fall into the trap of the familiar, either by copying from, or by overcompensating for our own parents. We should look instead to the scripture for direction, not only to see the ideal, but to see family in light of the gospel

The Goal of Youth Ministry - Our Goal for Our Youth
Rather than asking first, what is our goal for our youth ministry, we need to figure out what our goal for our youth should be. Then, when we have that firmly established, we can look at how our church's ministry to young people should fit into that larger goal. As Christians, our ultimate goal for our young people should be that whether they eat or drink, or whatever they do, that they would do all to the glory of God. Or, to state it another way, our goal for our children is that they intentionally glorify God and enjoy Him now and forever.
