Amos: The Good News of HELL - Jake Chambers
What is wrong with the world? What is dangerous for Christians? These are Israel’s enemies. They are unjust, wicked, despicable nations and they deserve God’s wrath. At this point in Amos message Israel and Judah would be cheering, celebrating, weeping tears of joy because they know them out there deserve it. And they celebrate because they love justice. Ever been cut off and wanted that dude to get a ticket. Ever been ripped off and want restitution and repayment? Ever want people to get what is coming to them?

Amos 7:1-2 Amos is intense but his heart responds how God’s heart will respond and he responds with brokenness. “O Lord God, please forgive!” Is this our cry for College Area? Is this our cry for those who have mistreated us or the ones we love?

Amos 3:8-15 The Lion has Roared Amos is Coming. The title of our series is inspired by this verse. That compares God’s word, God’s power and God’s story to that of a roaring lion.
Woe to you who long for the day of the LORD!
When we rely upon our outward righteousness, we harbor unrighteousness in our hearts, and so become the very enemy; namely, the very unrighteous that we wish to see judged.
Do Something
This message is the grande finale of the series. Everything has led up to this point. We have uncovered and dealt with the injustices in our society. We studied how God raised up prophets to speak to and act against real injustice. Now...what will we, as the people and prophets of God, do about it?
Act Now
The book of Amos is about wanting too much and caring too little. We must go beyond feeling bad for the poor, the afflicted, and the oppressed and begin to act on their behalf.
