The Offense of the Cross
We find all sort s of ways to make the church appealing to the outside world: championing social justice, helping the poor, emphasizing community. But at the center of our faith is a message that is deeply disturbing to the rest of the world, a message so offensive that Christians were hunted down for what they were teaching. Pressure from both inside and outside of the church has tried to make us dilute the dangerous Gospel--Ren will have no part in that!
A Boast Worth Making
Most of us take pride in things we do. They give us satisfaction and they give us standing among others. Yet most of the things we take pride in and boast about are things that don't really matter because they are not eternally significant. The cross of Christ is the only boast worth making precisely because it is eternally significant.
