Samson “went down to Timnah” – he was tempted by what he saw and then followed through with what was ‘right in his own eyes’. How are we drawn away in a similar way? How should we respond when it comes to temptation and how can God work through evil acts and decisions?
What a mess Samson found himself in. The Lord gave Samson the power to kill the lion but his love of honey lead to disastrous consequences. Choices, choices. But God is willing to roll up his sleeves and get involved in our lives. Our mess can become His mess.
Judges 14 Do you like riddles? If twelve make a dozen, how many make a million? What’s your answer? Samson not only tells a riddle in this story, he is a riddle. And in the riddles of this story we ourselves. The thing about riddles is that they have great answers. And if we are a riddle, the answer is God’s grace. The wonder of God’s grace comes thru in the riddle of this man Samson, even as it shines thru in us, riddled tho we are with doubt and failure.
