Let's look at this gruesome and glorious day in history, where the Words and Work of Jesus speak loudly of God's love, justice, holiness, mercy and grace.

The Death of Jesus, Part 2 (Mark 15:33-41)
The atonement made by Jesus in his death has innumerable facets. Considering four of these facets in particular, we see Jesus as the triumphant king (<em>Christus victor</em>); the mediator who bridges the gap of sin that separates us from God; the ultimate moral example for us; and chief of all, our own sacrifice and substitute suffering under and completely satisfying the wrath of God in our place and whose righteousness now clothes us.

Faith in the Darkness
The darkness that surrounded the cross of Jesus was a darkness behind which God hid his face, causing Jesus to cry out with feelings of abandonment. But the actions of two Marys and a man named Joseph remind us that we must press on with faith in the midst of the darkness.
