Sermons on Matthew
The church's first priority is evangelism/mission - or whatever else you want to call it!
Continuing our series in the Great Life, today we look at Jesus' call to make disciples and 'baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.' We discuss what baptism is, what it isn't, and the significance of being baptized in the name of 'the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit'. In this sermon we give a working definition of baptism as 'a picture and outward expression of an inward reality.'
If the Whole Church is going to take the Whole Gospel to the Whole World, then the church must commit to making disciples. In the Bible there is no differentiation between believer and disciple. They are the same thing. When Jesus calls people to Himself, He calls people to follow Him as disciples with the mission of making disciples. We musth SHIFT toward being disciples who make disciples.
This week we conclude our Field of Dreams series by responding to the Great Commission.
Purpose of Sermon: To Show Jesus' global strategy so we can be actively involved with Him.
What is this Mission? Is it really for us? Have I heard about this already? This Sunday, with Pastor Vesa Mättö, we will try to find the answers to these questions and some more. See you then! Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (Matthew 28:18-20)
